On the occasion of Government Week, Sodeyf Beykzadeh, Managing Director of the Islamic Republic of Iran International Exhibitions Company, presented a report on the company’s performance under the 14th Government and outlined future plans.
He noted that exhibitions play a key role in achieving the annual 23% growth target for non-oil exports set forth in the Seventh Development Plan. Over the past year, 66 specialized international exhibitions were organized at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground, covering a total area of more than 1,534,000 square meters. These events hosted 15,629 domestic companies and 2,838 foreign companies across various sectors, including oil, gas and petrochemicals, construction, food, cosmetics and hygiene, textiles, medical sciences, automotive, information technology, tourism, handicrafts, furniture, home appliances, agriculture, mining and metallurgy, electricity and water, renewable energy, and many others.
On the international front, Iran participated with national pavilions in six major overseas exhibitions, including the Moscow Food and Beverage Exhibition, the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, the Moscow Construction Industry Exhibition, the Istanbul Solar Energy Exhibition, and the Anuga Food Exhibition in Mumbai.
Mr. Beykzadeh also highlighted the expansion of exhibition-related cooperation, noting that eight MoUs were signed with both domestic and international institutions. These included agreements with the Iran Chamber of Mines, the Telecommunications Company of Iran for fiber optic development, the Mashhad International Exhibition Center, the Institute for Trade Studies and Research, as well as exhibition centers in Russia, Senegal, Serbia, and Kazakhstan.
Among the flagship events hosted during the past year were the Iran Export Capabilities Exhibition and the Iran–Eurasia Trade Exhibition, both attended by the President. In addition, meetings and discussions were held with officials from the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), as well as ambassadors and representatives from exhibition centers in Russia, Iraq, Spain, Serbia, Turkey, and Senegal—steps regarded as significant in expanding the international engagement of Iran’s exhibition industry.
Other activities included hosting 664 trade delegations and organizing 794 trade, cultural, and artistic events. More than one million visitors attended exhibitions at the Tehran Fairground last year, reflecting the pivotal role of exhibitions in driving the country’s economic growth.
With regard to cultural and social responsibility, Mr. Beykzadeh emphasized support for knowledge-based companies and business accelerators, providing them with dedicated spaces and cooperation opportunities to enhance the performance of domestic producers.
On infrastructure development, he underlined that 15 large-scale construction projects were carried out to improve exhibition services. These included replacing the high-voltage power cables across the complex, constructing a 2,500-cubic-meter emergency drinking water reservoir, building a solar power plant, renovating exhibition halls—including the modernization of the multipurpose Isfahan Hall to international standards—redesigning outdoor advertising spaces, landscaping and solar-powered lighting, equipping halls with high-speed internet networks, as well as resurfacing, line marking, and repainting exhibition grounds.
Looking ahead, the Managing Director emphasized the following priorities:
· Expanding Iran’s presence in global markets, particularly neighboring countries and members of the Eurasian Economic Union
· Enhancing the quantity and quality of domestic exhibitions
· A strong presence at Expo 2027 Belgrade
· Pursuing the connection of the Tehran International Fairground to the metro network
· Drafting a national roadmap for the development of the exhibition industry
· Increasing the share of knowledge-based exhibitions and supporting companies active in the knowledge economy
